It is a great-tasting and nutritious meal that is a quick family favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, most people make the tuna casserole with pasta or noodles but I like to use rice as a base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Preparation time 20 minutes. Serves 4.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tuna Mornay Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>1\/4 lb Butter or Margarine<\/li><li>1 Cup of rice or 2 cups of pasta<\/li><li>2 large onions diced.<\/li><li>8 oz mushrooms<\/li><li>1 8oz tin Tuna<\/li><li>3 Tablespoons of plain flour<\/li><li>1-pint full cream milk<\/li><li>1 clove of garlic<\/li><li>Salt and pepper to taste<\/li><li>Options &#8211; Cheddar cheese, Pasta, Vegetables.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/survivaljar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/tuna-bake.jpg\" alt=\"tuna pasta bake in oven\" class=\"wp-image-1303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/survivaljar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/tuna-bake.jpg 500w, https:\/\/survivaljar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/tuna-bake-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Start by cooking the rice in a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2IvyG9J\">rice cooker<\/a> and leave it on warm heat once done. For another option, you can use pasta so just boil the pasta with a pinch of salt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fry the onions in butter or margarine until golden brown. Add in mushrooms and cook for a further 2-3 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour in the milk and thicken with the plain flour to make a thick white sauce on medium heat. Be careful not to burn the sauce. Scoop in the tuna making sure to break up any large pieces. Add in salt and pepper to taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add the rice or pasta into a baking dish and level out. Pour the sauce mixture over the rice and warm up in an oven at 180 deg F for 20minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garnish the top with some more chease and hurbs if required.
